A Day Where Two Worlds Collided
Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, was not just another day in the studio, it was a day where creativity ran wild, personalities shone through and the camera lens became a portal between two entirely different worlds.
At Lightlove Studio in Abbey Village, Chorley, We hosted a two-part photography session that pushed creative boundaries. The first half celebrated the mystical and magical, featuring Eva Stocks. A model who embraces her identity as a white witch. The second half shifted gears entirely into historical elegance with Dean and Lynda, a talented modelling couple embodying a Victorian lady and gentleman.
The result? A day packed with laughter, artistry, and images that combine technical excellence with raw creative expression.
Part One – Eva Stocks, The White Witch
Eva is one of those models who brings her whole self into a shoot. She describes herself as a wild soul and you feel that energy the moment she arrives. For this session, she came dressed entirely in white, embodying her “white witch” persona with a pair of beautiful angel wings that caught the light perfectly.
The concept for this shoot was to merge fantasy portraiture with fine art studio photography. By blending soft, diffused lighting with subtle directional highlights The images took on an almost otherworldly glow. The clean white backdrop of the Lightlove Studio was the perfect canvas for Eva’s look, allowing her costume and personality to take centre stage.
Professional Yet Playful
While Eva is incredibly professional and easy to work with, she also brings a fun, relaxed energy to the shoot. Between poses, we shared plenty of laughs, which made the session feel collaborative and organic. This balance of professionalism and playfulness always results in better photographs, when a model feels comfortable, it shows.
Capturing the Magic
Photographing Eva as the white witch was about more than just documenting a costume; it was about telling a story. Her poses ranged from serene and angelic to mysterious and powerful, giving us a variety of moods to work with. The use of light and shadow created depth and dimension, enhancing the magical quality of each shot.
These portraits are a reminder that fantasy-themed photography is not just for cosplay or theatrical productions, it can be a powerful way to capture personality, creativity and artistry all in one frame.
Part Two – Dean & Lynda, Victorian Fine Art Portraits
After the ethereal morning session, it was time to change eras entirely. Dean and Lynda are an experienced modelling couple known for their strong on-camera chemistry and for this shoot, they stepped into the roles of a Victorian gentleman and lady.
Their outfits were impeccable. Dean in tailored Victorian attire and Lynda in a flowing, period-appropriate gown. The attention to detail made it easy to lean into a fine art photography style, inspired by 19th-century portraiture.
Setting the Scene
For this session, we moved away from the bright, airy feel of the morning shoot and adopted a darker, moodier lighting setup. This allowed us to create that classic, painterly effect so characteristic of fine art photography. The backdrop and props were carefully selected to enhance the Victorian theme without overpowering the subjects.
A Timeless Connection
One of the advantages of working with a modelling couple is the natural rapport they bring to the images. Dean and Lynda’s connection added authenticity to the Victorian scenes, from their poised stances to subtle glances, every frame felt like a slice of history.
The images have a timeless quality, the kind that could easily be mistaken for genuine historical portraits. The richness of the tones, the elegance of the composition and the natural chemistry between the models all contributed to an unforgettable set of photographs.
Why This Shoot Worked So Well
Combining two very different concepts in one day might seem like a challenge, but it’s actually a fantastic way to keep creative energy high. Switching from fantasy portrait photography to historical fine art portraiture kept things fresh, both for the photographer and the models.
The Importance of Storytelling in Portrait Photography
Whether it’s a mystical white witch with angel wings or a poised Victorian couple, great portrait photography is about more than just lighting and camera settings. It’s about creating and capturing a story.
For Eva, the story was one of magic, light and free-spirited energy.
For Dean and Lynda, the story was elegance, history and timeless romance.
These stories are what make images truly memorable. When viewers look at them, they’re not just seeing a model in costume, they’re seeing a character in a moment that feels alive.
