One Face, One Year: A Journey Through Time and Transformation

What Is One Face, One Year?

"One Face, One Year" is an intimate and evolving portrait photography project that focuses on capturing the transformation of a single individual over the span of 12 months. Once a month, the same subject will step in front of my lens, no gimmicks, no retouching, no masks just raw, real life unfolding frame by frame.

This project is not just about physical change. It’s about documenting the invisible threads of emotion, growth, experience and humanity that weave themselves into a person’s expression over time.

Why I Created This Project

As a photographer, I believe the most powerful stories are the ones etched into faces. Our expressions often speak louder than words, especially when we’re not even aware of them. I wanted to take portraiture one step further by not just capturing a moment, but chronicling a journey.

One Face, One Year was born from this desire to explore personal transformation and not just visually, but emotionally and mentally. It’s a slow-burning story told in 12 chapters. A timeline of mood, mindset, and maybe even milestones.

What You Can Expect

Each month, I’ll be photographing the same person in a consistent studio or location setting, allowing the true subject, the person, to take centre stage. You’ll see:

  • Micro expressions that subtly shift over time.
  • Confidence that builds, breaks, or rebuilds.
  • Honest documentation of real life: the highs, the lows, the in-betweens.

This project will culminate in a powerful visual series, a single image each moth that becomes a testament to a year in the life of one human being.

What Makes This Different?

Unlike traditional portrait projects that freeze a single moment, this project embraces change. It allows the camera to act not just as a tool of observation, but of connection. The photos will serve as time capsules, holding still what we often overlook in our daily lives.

In a world of fast filters and fleeting trends, One Face, One Year is a return to the roots of what portraiture can be: timeless, emotional and deeply human.

How You Can Get Involved

Are you curious about being the face of this project or do you know someone who might be perfect for it? I’ll soon be launching a casting call to find a subject who’s willing to be part of something meaningful, creative and personal. Stay tuned for the official announcement, or follow me on Facebook to be the first to hear more.

Final Thoughts

This project is about more than photography. It’s about memory, presence and the beauty of becoming. It's about documenting a persons life for one whole year. I can’t wait to share this unfolding story with you.
